"There is no greater journey in life then improving the very depth of our being, searching for total health and inner strength, reaching an emotional balance and calmness, and discovering our true self and the true bliss that lies within our heart."
--Teacher David Knoll

I began my studies in Emei Qigong in March of 1989 with a disciple of Grandmaster Fu in New York City. During the first month of practice I began to feel a magnetic sensation between my hands and it felt good. In September of that year my allergies did not bother me for the first time in my life. I thought this to be truly remarkable because every year since a child my allergies would make me miserable for the entire month of September. This was the first time I felt comfort without medicine and I could only relate the phenomenon to the Emei Qigong practice. My teacher said I was building up the immune system in my body and that was the reason. Whatever the reason, it was great.

I went to class three times a week to practice and took private instruction from my teacher to learn the healing techniques to help others. In 1991 I was studying the healing techniques for knee ailments and injuries. I remember a cold winter day when I was substitute teaching a fourth grade class at one of the local elementary schools. During the afternoon one of the little girls fell in class and banged her knee on the metal frame of a table. She cried as her knee began to swell. I instructed one of the children to get the school nurse. The student returned with a teacher who told me there was no nurse at this school. She then instructed another student to go to the kitchen and get a frozen milk container to place on the knee of the injured child.

I followed the words of the fellow teacher and had the injured girl sit on a blanket with a friend. She cried with the frozen milk container pressed upon her leg. It angered me to be a part of the apathetic response that the school had to this girls pain and suffering. I made a decision to treat this girl using the Emei Qigong healing technique for the knee. I had her sit in a chair in the front of the room as the 30 students circled around us. The children were calm and curious. They asked intelligent questions and were interested at what I was doing. After 5 minutes the injured girl said, “Wow it feels like the pain wants to go. Go pain go!”

As I continued to work on the area the swelling began to decrease. I couldn’t believe it. It was the first time I had used the Emei Qigong healing techniques on anyone other than a fellow student. I asked the girl to get up and to try to put weight on the leg. She gingerly rose from the chair and placed the injured leg on the floor. “Wow no pain!” she shouted. As she started walking around I think I was more astonished then she was. I couldn’t believe it worked. From that moment until the end of the school day the kids were well behaved and gave me a tremendous amount of respect. I was also in a state of emotional bliss at the healing achievement. I was filled with such joy and bliss that I decided to study and practice with greater intensity, so I can become an Emei Qigong healer and teacher.

I continued with even greater intensity to study and practice this incredible ancient health system and in 1993 went to China with other students to meet and study directly with Grandmaster Fu.

We woke each day at 5:30 a.m., and were led through workouts consisting of meditation, breathing exercises and slow circular body movements. The workouts created a warm, relaxing sensation throughout my body. Grandmaster Fu came to me on many occasions to correct my posture or motion. Whenever the Grandmaster touched me I felt a surge of energy, which enabled me to be more fluid with the exercises. My mind never seemed to wander aimlessly. I was focused on the wonderful sensation of my energy flowing throughout my body.

Grandmaster Fu taught us the 800 year old “Heaven and Earth” exercise which he said is the foundational exercise of Emei Qigong. He also taught us an exercise called “Buddha’s Diamond Palm Training,” which is used to open the points of energy in the palms of the hand. “This will give you greater sensitivity for palm diagnosis and palm energy transmission,” he said. We also practiced the Wuji Gong exercise which is the exercise he teaches to the general public for cleaning out toxins, enhancing energy, and freeing the mind from too much thinking. He taught us the sacred healing sounds for organ health strengthening. So much great information and practice, I just couldn’t get enough of it. I was soaking it up like a sponge.

The after dinner practice on the first night at the Temple on the sacred Mt. Emei was a private session with Grandmaster Fu. He told me to breathe naturally and chant the mantra which he had taught us earlier. He then began to chant the mantra and touch my head with his fingers. A warm sensation came to the crown of my head and I felt as if I had a straw sticking up from it.

Grandmaster Fu said he opened my Tien Men or Heaven’s Door. To have one’s Heaven’s Door opened is said to help in cleansing one’s Karma. The Grandmaster transmitted energy into a point on my head. When he finished I felt euphoric. The cloud-like confusion of my mind was cleared away, revealing the sky-like nature of pure awareness. Colors were brighter and I saw objects with greater detail and clarity. At the end of the journey Grandmaster Fu appointed me the title of a qualified healer and basic teacher within the Emei Qigong system.

When I arrived home everything seemed surreal. This journey changed me and my family and friends noticed the change as well. They began to call me to help them with ailments or injuries. I remember my friend Nick coming to my apartment one day after spraining his ankle playing basketball. I gave him an Emei Qigong healing and sent him on his merry way. This seemed to be a regular occurrence as friends and family told their family and friends and so on. One of my clients, Fran, seemed to tell all her friends about me and that started me on a new path.

For in 1995 I got so busy that I made the bold decision to quit my job of audio and video taping seminars and make Emei Qigong into my sole business. I traveled to people’s home going as far as an hour and half drive away, three times a week, to help a spinal cord injury person.

During the next few years I set up a web site giving the public information about Emei Qigong. One day going through my e-mails I came across a letter from Roborto Miccoli of Italy. He was the president of the Qigong association of Romagna. He said he was looking at my web site and his Qigong group wanted to invite me to teach in northern Italy. I enthusiastically went and taught two weekend workshops.

One of the attendees was Dr. Archimede Tentindo, a medical doctor and one of the most prestigious Wing Chung Kung Fu teachers in Europe. Dr. Tentindo lives in Rome and traveled three hours north to attend the workshop. He enjoyed the theories, exercises and healing techniques of Emei Qigong so much that he became the lead organizer of Emei Qigong in Italy. He has organized several workshops since and Emei Qigong now has a strong base in all of Italy with its headquarters in Rome. In May of 2005 Grandmaster Fu traveled to Rome for the first time and gave a wonderful healing workshop.

I have taught several workshops and organized several workshops for Grandmaster Fu in the New York area. Classes and daily energy treatments are a part of my life as I have made it my mission to help Emei Qigong shine like the sun. I have also have continued with my studies from Grandmaster Fu directly with my goal of reaching a true masters level.

As a top teacher in America, I have been on TV and radio spreading the knowledge of the basic teachings. I represented America at the 1993 Qigong conference in Cheung Du, China and was featured in the documentary entitled, “The Secrets of Emei.”
