Kung Fu with Qi


Every Wednesday in Queens, NY, Teacher David will hold a class combing the low impact, energy gathering exercises of Emei Qigong with the high impact, physical workout of Wing Chun Kung Fu. Students will work on [their] muscles, learn self-defense techniques, while also doing Qigong to help to relax the mind so you’re not using the self-defense in anger, you’re doing it for peace. You will also learn to gather energy and focus this energy to make you stronger in your defense and in your workout.

Teacher David says, “I am trying to combine these ancient internal and external exercises for a complete and balanced workout, so it’s a yin and yang approach in working out. First time students should expect a dual exercise where instead of just going to a gym or going to classes to work on just their body, this in fact works their mind, then the body. As Grandmaster Fu says, “Your mind leads your internal Qi and your Qi leads your internal strength. Combine this with the external energy all around us and you can become as solid as a tree with strong roots while being as fluid as water.”
