YIN & YANG
"The law of Ying and Yang is the natural order of the universe, the
foundation of all things, mother of all changes, the root of life and
death. In healing, one must grasp the root of disharmony which is always
subject to the law of Yin and Yang."
--The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine The forces of Yin and Yang are total opposites and are so finely
balanced and interdependent that their movement resembles two fish
gliding together in water. The circle that surrounds them represents the
totality of all existence. In the center of both segments, there is a
small circle, a seed of Yin within Yang and a seed of Yang within Yin.
In this way, Yin and Yang give birth to each other in various degrees.
IN EXERCISING: Western exercise is Yang, linear and competitive (heart rate increases). Qigong exercise is Yin, circular and peaceful (heart rate decreases). Combining both in balance are the keys to unlocking the door of health to the Yin and Yang of our body and mind.
